This venture was so successful that a whole new line of books was published by Onyx Path Publishing, later being converted into the 4th edition of the game. Thus, the clamor of the fans ended up bringing Vampire: The Mask back in 2011, through a commemorative edition of 20 years of this RPG. The line of publications for the game was discontinued in 2004, being replaced by a new scenario called Vampire: The Requiem that was not as successful as its predecessor.
The reference to the Mask, in the title of the series, can be interpreted from two different senses: the first refers to the attempt by immortal beings to hide their own vampiric society from humanity, their rulers and the media the second sense is used to refer to the efforts of vampires to convince themselves that they still have traces of humanity, and that they are not cold and bestial monsters guided by vampiric nature. Created by Mark Rein * Hagen, and published in 1991 by the publisher White Wolf, this RPG won the Origins Award in the category “ Best RPG Rules of 1991 “, and came to have a second edition in 1992 and a revised edition in 1998. Vampire: The Masquerade is a scenario RPG of personal horror and urban fantasy, based on the system Storyteller to line publications World of Darkness, centered on vampires who inhabit a world of dark fantasy.
